Our client in Napa is seeking to hire a Purchasing Assistant. The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for the support of the purchasing process with specific responsibilities for: processing bid and purchasing documents, materials, responding to related inquiries and maintaining vendor/source information and inventories. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Creates purchase orders and submits to vendor
Tracks outstanding purchase orders and follows up on missing confirmations
Contacts vendor and works with internal functional areas to resolve more complex issues regarding purchase orders.
Tracks inbound material orders to ensure materials arrive on schedule
Reviews inventory reports and contacts vendors to ship required materials or change shipment date
Responds to inquiries regarding quantity discrepancies or delivery delays, obtains information, notifies appropriate party of action that needs to be taken, and resolves issues
Verifies supplier invoices against purchase orders for accuracy and investigates and resolves discrepancies
Maintains procurement records such as costs, delivery, product quality or performance, inventories and lot tracking
Prepares cost analysis of quotes to current cost of goods

Job Requirements:

BA/BS in Business Administration, Logistics or related field
2-4 years of purchasing experience
Good understanding of supply chain procedures, procurement and inventory policies and procedures.
Strong proficiency in MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
Solid knowledge of Navision manufacturing, inventory database management and reporting software.
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
Candidate will need to know how to examine inventory, place orders, handle pricing and tracking, as well as following-up with vendors.
