A small vineyard design and consulting firm in Napa is seeking a Project Manager to
join their team. They specialize in vineyard design including erosion control, permitting of new and
existing vineyards, and mapping services. Their clients are primarily vineyards throughout California with
the majority in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties. All on-the-job training will be provided. Their
ideal candidate is very detail-oriented, possesses a flexible attitude, and excels in always keeping the big
picture in mind.
The position will have responsibilities in the following areas:
Work closely with the senior management team to ensure that company's standards of high
quality are met, staff maintains a respectable billing percentage, and deadlines are met with a
minimum amount of overtime required by staff
Manage all tasks for 10 to 15 concurrent projects of varying size, type and degree of activity.
Project types the candidate could be responsible for include replant Erosion Control Plans,
feasibility studies, ArcGIS mapping projects, and select special projects depending on relevant
experience
Co-manage with Civil Engineers 15 to 20 concurrent projects including new vineyard designs,
subsurface drainage system designs, reservoir designs, topographic mapping projects, and
projects under construction
Manage and maintain Easy Projects project management software for 11 employees, working
with the Engineers to identify the steps needed to complete each task for each project. Manage
task due dates, time estimates for completion of work, dependencies, and employee
assignments
Actively manage with Engineers and Senior Project Manager, the daily scheduling of all staff and
survey/field equipment, including prioritizing and shifting tasks as necessary to ensure goals are
met
Coordinate and manage sub-consultants (archaeologists, biologists, geologists, hydrogeologists,
etc.), including soliciting proposals, providing project information, and coordinating site visits
Assist Engineers, when needed, with conference calls, meetings, and written correspondence
Coordinate with Office Manager, Engineers and Senior Project Manager to track projects,
ensuring that they stay within budget
Check in with staff daily to ensure they understand their priorities and that all critical path items
are in process
Participate in weekly project management meetings with senior management team
The successful candidate will have:
A Bachelor's degree, however experience in lieu of a degree will be considered;
Several years of experience successfully managing multiple projects;
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Outlook;
Ability to be comfortable with schedules changing on a daily (often hourly) basis;
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
The ability to juggle multiple tasks with ease; and
The ability to effectively balance long-term goals with day-to-day demands
Desired but not required qualities include experience with Easy Projects software and experience in the
wine industry.
The position is a full-time office-based position located in the city of Napa. Salary will be commensurate
