A growing and dynamic wholesale company of decorative items for the home and garden is searching for an energetic, professional, and dedicated Accounts Payable Specialist. The Accounts Payable function is an integral part of accounting team. Accounts Payable performs the day-to-day processing of all invoices, closely monitoring all expenses for proper account coding, expense month, and approval process. The successful candidate will have strong accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, organization and problem solving abilities, 4 years of like kind experience, have an outgoing personality and be a team player.

Responsibilities:

Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks
Prepare batches of invoices for data entry
Enter invoices for payment
Manage the weekly check run
Distributes signed checks as required
Answers all vendor inquiries
Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files
Closely monitors freight invoices for accuracy and resolves any variances
Assists accounting team as necessary
Assists in monthly closings, including A/P accrual and any expense analysis as requested
Prepares analysis of accounts, as required
Prepare daily miscellaneous mail with postage for morning pick ups

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist with invoicing as needed
Prepare 1099's at the end of the year
Assist with audits in finding and pulling invoices and freight bills
Replenish postage money when needed
Various other activities that may arise

Qualifications and Skills
3 to 5 years progressive experience in accounts payable and administrative duties.
Must enjoy working in a team environment
Proficient in in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
Highly organized and detail oriented, have a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills
Computer proficient, including Microsoft Office
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as, independently
Associates Degree preferred
