Sonoma company is looking for a smart, hard working individual to go through an apprenticeship program. The work can be repetitive and will be working outdoors rain or shine. Will be stacking wood and using hammers.

Is an oak products manufacturer that provides Oak to beverage companies such as wineries, distilleries and craft breweries.
They utilize our products to add flavor to their beverages.
Part of that is installing into wine barrels. This requires us to open and close the barrels to add our product to them. This would be why the apprenticeship for cooper skills is necessary.
In order for them to install they must travel to the customer locations. This is about 10% of what they do. Travel as far north as Central Washington, and as far south as Santa Barbara.
It is required that up to 4 times a year that all coopers are at one of our largest clients in Washington for up to a week at a time.
The other installations are day trips in Sonoma and Napa counties within the standard scheduled work day.
All lodging, travel, food etc. Will be paid for
The other 90 % of what they do is production work. You could compare this type of work to standard mill work.
Hours are 40 hours a week 7am to 3: 30pm. Do not do a lot of OT or Saturdays.
Rate of pay on temp to hire is set at $14.50.
Full time hire after 90 day may or may not come with an increase based on performance of each individual.

General Duties in the Apprenticeship program
-Replaces staves, heads, and hoops, using windlass and hand tools to repair barrels: Loops cable of windlass around top of barrel and turns handle to compress staves and loosen hoops.
-Removes defective stave and inserts and aligns new stave, using wooden mallet.
-Shapes top edge of stave to conform with others, using saw to trim and spokeshave to bevel inside and outside edges.
-Replaces and tightens hoops.
-Removes head hoop, using cooper's hammer, and pries out head, using prybar.
-Inserts edge of new head in croze of staves and forces head into place by hand or using mallet.
-Replaces head hoop.
-May loosen hoops and force caulking between staves to repair leaking stave joints.
-May plug knotholes and wormholes with wooden plugs.
