Our client in Napa, a growing company in the wine business that procures grapes and bulk wine to supply national and private label brands, is seeking a Controller to join their team. This position is responsible for the day to day oversight of all general accounting activities. This is a very important position within the company as candidate will play a crucial role in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes, must understand the big picture of the company's goals in a sense that intricate accounting duties must be completed to succeed and that one must be flexible with job duties in an office setting of 7 employees. The ideal candidate will have minimum 5 years experience in accounting, experience preparing quarterly and annual financial statements, and have advanced proficiency utilizing Excel spreadsheets and formulas. Microsoft Great Plains knowledge a plus! Wine industry experience preferred.

Job duties are, but not limited to:

Accounting (90%)
-Standard cost calculations, providing accurate and up to date cost information
-Inventory reconciliation and inventory roll forward calculation/reports across the business for all domestic and imported bulk and case wine.
-Preparation of inventory and cost analysis reports.
-Production planning and oversight
-Bulk/Grape demand for future crop years (experience preferred, if not will be thoroughly trained on)
-Tracking of contracts, shipments and invoicing on bulk sales
-Approval and oversight of accounts payable
-Commissions: analysis, calucation and payment
-Account analysis and reconciliation
-Bank covenants: reporting and oversight

Financial Statements (10%) (*Very important role and crucial*)
-Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
-Assist with quarterly forecast and annual plan
-preparation of audit schedules for interim review and annual audit
-Coordination with external auditors

-Excellent analytical skills to ensure accuracy and reliability on tasks and duties.
-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
-Thoroughness in identifying and resolving problems.
-Ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a dynamic work environment, which includes working independently and as a team.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Excellent computer proficiency.
