Local city in Sonoma County is looking for an Accountant to assist their Finance Department. The Accountant will perform a wide range of accounting duties for the City and the Housing Authority. Will be preparing financial statements, reviewing fiscal records, monitoring financial transactions, and providing budgetary control for assigned funds.

We are looking ideally for someone that possess a BA Degree and at least one year of professional accounting experience within a government or no-profit organization. This person will need to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of accounting and financial administration for a public agency, as well as the ability to prepare a variety of financial statements.

JOB DUTIES:
-Maintains and monitors accounts for City funds, facilities and operations
-Process journal entries; reconciles accounts and balances to the General Ledger; investigates and resolves discrepancies
-Prepares financial statements and various financial reports for Federal, State and other outside agencies
-Provides budgetary controls for assigned funds or City departments
-Provides financial analysis and support of department programs
-Assists with the preparation of annual budgets and budget monitoring reports
-Performs a variety of financial analyses
-Researches and analyzes transactions to resolve budget issues
-Assist other Finance Department staff in solving accounting problems

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Provide outstanding and friendly customer service
-A BA Degree in accounting, business administration or a related field
-Sufficient professional accounting support work may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis
-Knowledge of GAAP
-Ability to apply accounting principles and practices to a wide variety of standard and non-standard transactions
